Curriculum
The New Zealand Curriculum is our official policy for teaching, learning and assessment.
Subjects taught are: Religious Education, Mathematics, English (reading, writing, listening and speaking),
Social Studies, Physical Education and Health, Art, Music, Science, Technology.  Year 7 and 8 pupils
attend Wainuiomata Intermediate School for Technology once a week.

Reports
Reports on children's progress are written at the end of each year. Goal Setting Meetings
are held twice a year, in March and July. Any concerns about your child can be discussed
at other times throughout the year.

Healthy Eating
Part of providing a good learning environment is the implementation of our policy on Eating for Health.
Chippies, sweets, fizzy drinks or generally unhealthy foods are not allowed at school.

Newsletters
Newsletters are sent home every second Wednesday, and notices are sent as needed.

Homework
Homework is given to children on week nights. Junior School children need to practice and share
their reading from books sent home every day. Homework procedures for senior students are
outlined at the beginning of each year.

Uniforms
Children attending Sacred Heart School are required to wear School Uniforms.
The correct Uniform items can be purchased through the school. The Uniform Shop is open on
Tuesdays from 8.45- 9.15am and 2.45 - 3.15pm.   

Pre School Library Visits  We invite preschoolers, accompanied by a parent, to use the school library from 2.30 – 3.00 on Tuesdays. The children will be able to take books out on issue.  (Please don’t let babies have the books though, as damaged or lost books will be charged at replacement cost.)Anne Horrocks, our Teacher Aide Librarian, will be available in the library until 3pm when the library will close.  School children must be waiting for parents outside and not be in the library at this time.
